After reading so many positive on-line reviews of Celibidache's Bruckner, I decided to buy this set of Bruckner's symphonies #3-9 plus two religious choral works.

I alway thought that Bruckner symphonies are boring and I have serveral box sets of his complete symphonies and I purchasr the Bruno Walter edition and listened to few Bruckner symphonies it opened my eyes or ears,fanatic.

I've always been reluctant to review a music purchase, since I don't have a music background and therefore am not sure I can clearly express what I would like to say about this outstanding set.

I love Bruckner and have collected many, many recordings over the years: Furtwangler , Kanappertsbusch, Karajan, Wand, Jochum, Walter, Bohm, the list goes on and on.

As noted by at least a couple other reviewers -- and as is so often the case with Celibidache's interpretations -- it's not so much that his renditions are better or worse than others as it is that they are simply different.

Bruckner lovers tend to be polarized on Celibidache's interpretations of these great symphonies: some consider his slow tempi sheer genius, others feel that it distorts the natural flow of the music.

Although I know little about Bruckner and Celibidache, I think it is utterly fair commentary to say that Celibidache completely opened up the God-music of Bruckner.
