disappointing
The sound was good on my Bose headphones, the Chorus and the voices in the storm scene in Act 1 come through nicely, and I'm thinking that we might indeed have something special here -- but it turns out that we don't.
Interesting recording
I'm enjoying it so far although I have to admit that at times it sounds like a recording engineer had way too much fun.
Simply Uncompetitive
If you're one of those who feels the need to have one of Domingo's many versions of Otello on their shelves , then your best option is still his first commercial recording on RCA, which basically presents a Met-based cast that was shipped off to England to cut the orchestra recording fee down to the bare minimum.
Otello..... hard to hear it...
I could hardly hear this recording.
Quality
This is a strong contender for the title of the best recording available of this opera.
Wonderful Otello
Bought both versions of Otello with Placido Domingo; the 1978 with Renata Scotto and the 1993 with Cheryl Studer.

Why did I buy this?
I did not need another Otello, much less one with the same Otello as my other one.
An unnecessary replication
I already own Domingo's EMI version of Otello under Maazel , his early RCA version under Levine, and two semi-pirate live performances under Kleiber with La Scalla forces.
The Best Othello since Toscanini
It is a true wonder when one comes across such a vivid and emotional portrayal of one of Verdi's greatest roles.
